Summer Reading Program
MCL's Summer Reading program is a six week-long, FREE reading program for all ages. Each participant is sorted into one of four teams and challenged to read 900 minutes (about 15 hours)!
Our theme this year is Galactic Readers. We know our many library users love space, and all of our crafts and prizes are space-themed this year! Our reading teams are:
- Team Andromeda (a type of galaxy)
- Team Milky Way (our galaxy)
- Team Orion (a constellation of stars)
- Team Cosmos (another name for “universe”)
We are using Beanstack again this year for the program. Earn badges for each minute milestone, submit book reviews and activities with friends and family! Each badge gets you one ticket that you can exchange for entries into two separate draw prizes you could win at the end of the program! Prize pick up week is August 19-24.
We have both children AND teen/adult craft days!
- Tuesdays: Children crafts
- Wednesdays: Teen/adult crafts
Sign up in our SRP Calendar for "timed entry" for each craft to alleviate program room crowding

Throughout the summer, our program room is open for dropping in to hang out, read, and check out various activities available. Maybe you would like help with entering your minutes or you would like to talk about the books you are reading! We encourage signing up for timed entries for our special craft days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This will help alleviate overcrowding in the program room and ensure you will not have to wait for a spot to open.
- Tuesday & Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. (special craft days)
- Thursday: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Friday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Saturday: 12 - 4 p.m.
Program room is closed to SRP activities on Sunday and Monday
